Alpena firefighters respond to house fire
City firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Saginaw Street on Tuesday after a report of light smoke observed from the roof of a house under construction.
Firefighters accessed the ridgeline through the upstairs bedroom ceiling to locate and extinguish the smoldering fire. A dozen City firefighters responded to the scene, and handled another medical emergency response during the fire operation, according to a press release.
The occupant was not displaced, and damage was limited to the second floor ceiling. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour and a half, the release said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
