Alpena competes in track dual with TC West

TC West tops Alpena

TRAVERSE CITY–Traverse City West took top honors in a dual with Alpena on Wednesday. The Titans topped Alpena 132.99 to 17 on the boys side and 107.99 to 33 on the girls side.

SOFTBALL

Rogers City takes 2 from Posen

POSEN–Rogers City prevailed in a Presque Isle County showdown on Wednesday, beating Posen 10-4 and 11-4.

Tied at 2-all after three innings in the opener, Rogers City scored three in the fourth, one in the fifth and four in sixth to put some distance between it and the Vikings.

Lizzy Romel, Makayla Kamyszek, Ava Wesner and Faith Cousins each had two hits for Posen and Abi Schellie had two RBI.

Alyssa Hein and Mackenzie Bruning each had two hits for Rogers City; Taylor Krentz had three RBI and Bruning and Kaitlin Nowicki each had two.

Bruning earned the win, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts.

Rogers City scored nine runs in the first three innings to take early control of the second game. Posen scored three in the fourth inning to make it 9-3, but could get no closer.

Romel and Wesner each had two hits for Posen and Kamyszek and Romel each had an RBI. Romel took the loss for Posen, allowing 11 runs (seven earned) on nine hits with seven walks and two strikeouts.

Jeffra Dittmar had three hits for the Hurons and Bruning and Nowicki each had two hits; Bruning also had three RBI and split pitching duties with Krentz.

Rogers City hosts Pickford on Friday and Posen hosts Atlanta on Thursday.

BASEBALL

Atlanta routs Wolverine

WOLVERINE–Colton Reeves threw a no-hitter and the Huskies routed Wolverine 22-0 and 20-3 during a Wednesday doubleheader.

Reeves’ no-no came in the opener when he struck out seven of the 11 batters he faced. He also added three hits at the plate, Trenton Whitt had three hits and Jace Cheedie had two hits.

In the nightcap, TJ Currie earned the win, allowing two hits and striking out four.

Whitt led Atlanta with two hits.
