ALPENA — The number of coronavirus tests administered is down among Alpena County residents, while positive tests stay in the double digits, according to state data.

In April, an average of 60 Alpena County residents have been tested per day, down from a daily average of 69 per day in March.

About 26 tests per day in each county have been administered to residents of Presque Isle, Montmorency, and Alcona counties in March. That marks an increase over the average of 18 tests per day in Alcona County in March. Testing numbers in Presque Isle and Montmorency counties have risen slightly since last month.

Public health officials on Friday reported 32 newly infected or probably infected Northeast Michiganders, including 19 Alpena County residents, seven Presque Isle County residents, and six Montmorency County residents.

Based on that data, 3,555 Northeast Michiganders have been confirmed or suspected infected since the pandemic hit Michigan in mid-March. Of those, 108 have died.

State data showed that, as of Thursday, 40,184 doses of coronavirus vaccine had been administered in Northeast Michigan.
