Numbers shift slightly; free testing available

ALPENA — One more Presque Isle County resident tested positive for coronavirus and one more Alpena County resident recovered from the disease, local public health officials said on Thursday.

District Health Department No. 4 officials also announced a drive-thru testing event is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Alpena County Fairgrounds, located at 625 11th St. The testing is free and available to any Michigan resident, regardless of symptoms. A doctor’s referral is not needed.

No new deaths were reported on Thursday.

That means a total of 188 Northeast Michigan residents have tested positive for the disease to date, and 159 of those residents have recovered so far. A total of 17 people have died while infected with the disease.

Of those who have tested positive for the disease, 119 were Alpena County residents, 34 were Alcona County residents, 12 were Montmorency County residents, and 23 were Presque Isle County residents.

Of those who have recovered, 105 were Alpena County residents, 24 were Alcona County residents, 11 were Montmorency County residents, and 19 were Presque Isle County residents.
