COVID-19 totals inch higher in Alpena area

ALPENA- District Health Department No. 4 announced Monday two new COVID-19 infections in residents of Alpena County, and another resident in Presque Isle County.

The new cases pushed the number of Alpena County residents who have tested positive to 123. Of that number, 106 people have recovered and 14 people who were infected with the disease have died. In Presque Isle County, there have been 24 positive cases with 19 recoveries and one death.

The numbers in Alcona and Montmorency counties stayed the same from Friday, with there being a total of 34 Alcona County residents confirmed infected with 24 recoveries and two deaths. There have been 13 confirmed infections of Montmorency County residents with 11 recoveries and no deaths.

The State of Michigan also updated its COVID-19 data on Monday. There were 1,536 confirmed infections of residents since Saturday, and 12 new deaths. In total there have been 117,000 residents who have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 6,665 people have died while being infected by it.
