Alpena County GOP seeks candidates
The Alpena County Republican Party will meet at 5:30 p.m. Friday to name a replacement for Ronald McDonald as a candidate for the District 6 seat on the Alpena County Board of Commissioners.
McDonald, who was running unopposed in November, died last week. State law allows the party that nominated him the August primary to name a replacement candidate.
Those interested in the seat should file an affidavit of identity with the Alpena County clerk by 3 p.m. Wednesday, the party said in a news release.
Kevin Osbourne, chairman of the county GOP, has expressed interest in the seat and will abstain from voting for the replacement, the party said. Also expressing interest is Burt Francisco, the county’s former 911 director.
