After emergency medical technicians from the Alpena Township Fire Department treated the woman’s injuries, paramedics from the Alpena Fire Department administered pain medication via intravenous injection and used a sled-like basket and a rope system to transport the victim off the rock hills about half a mile away from the parking area.

The woman was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena and is expected to make a full recovery.

CORRECTION: This story has been updated to reflect that the Alpena Fire Department administered pain medication to the patient. The agency was incorrect in an earlier version of this story.
