No one was home when a fire broke out shortly after 9 p.m. at a home on the corner of McKinley Avenue and South 8th Avenue.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately clear, but firefighters appeared to be working mainly in the basement and on the first floor. Smoke billowed from the white, two-story structure and filled that area of the neighborhood.
