Students race to think of an answer as Officer Tim Marquardt counts down the time in Mr. Thomson’s fifth-grade class at Ella White Elementary School in Alpena on National DARE Day Thursday. Next week, for the students’ final DARE lesson before graduation from the program, high school seniors will visit the classroom to quiz the fifth-graders on the lessons they’ve learrned about topics such as bullying, help networks, and self esteem.
