LANSING – On Wednesday, in Troy, Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined school staff to pass out lunch to students during School Breakfast Week as part of her Get Shit Done Tour. For the last three years, all 1.4 million public school students have received free breakfast and lunch, saving parents $1,000 per year per child on groceries and valuable time every morning. During this year’s State of the State address, the governor called on the legislature to make free school meals permanent in state law.
