Rep. Cavitt holding local art contest for high school students

LANSING — State Rep. Cam Cavitt, R-Cheboygan, is hosting an art contest for local high school students. The winner will be invited to Lansing to be a legislator for a day.

Students are tasked with creating an art piece that captures the essence of Northeast Michigan.

All entries are due by March 31. The competition is open to all students from ninth grade through 12th grae in Cheboygan, Montmorency, Presque Isle, Alpena, Oscoda, and Alcona counties. Any art form excluding photography will be accepted.

The winner of the contest will have the opportunity to be a “Legislator for the Day” with Rep. Cavitt at the Michigan State Capitol. They will receive a tribute from the governor, have their photo taken on the House floor, and participate in other activities throughout the day.

Participants should send a photo of their submission to CamCavitt@house.mi.gov or mail their submission to Cavitt’s office, P.O. Box 30014 in Lansing, MI 48909-7514
