Alpena, MI – The Park Family Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to serving the community of Alpena, and The Aplex announce the donation of all tangible assets of The Aplex to the newly formed nonprofit organization, Aplex Community Center (Aplex CC).
The donation includes all tangible assets – the building, land, equipment, furnishings and state liquor license. The contribution of these assets is intended to support the long-term viability of The Aplex.
Kent Hegenauer is now serving as the Operations Manager of the APlex overseeing all operations of the facility.
The Aplex Community Center, a 501(c)(3) organization, was formed to provide a sustainable structure to ensure the community center continues to provide opportunities for all to participate in educational, entertainment, athletic and charitable activities.
The nonprofit operates independently with its own governing board. As a public charity, the organization is positioned to serve the community while maintaining strong accountability and transparency.
“The transfer of the Aplex assets provides an outstanding foundation for our organization,” said Tony Suszek, President, Aplex CC Board. “We are grateful for the confidence placed in us and are committed to honoring and advancing the charitable intent behind this contribution. We look forward to adding new supporters and partnerships as the Aplex continues to evolve.”
“Establishing the Aplex Community Center nonprofit organization and the transfer of assets to this organization align with our long-term commitment to the community of Alpena,” said Jim Park, President, Park Family Foundation. “This transition of ownership encourages the broader engagement of local leaders and ensures the Aplex is well positioned to meet the needs of our community.”
The transfer was completed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations governing charitable organizations. As of Jan. 1, the Aplex Community Center assumed responsibility for the management and use of the donated assets in furtherance of its exempt purposes.
