ALPENA — All Saints Catholic School (ASCS) hosted a Celebrate Cultural Diversity Day at ASCS on Wednesday.
According to an ASCS press release, ASCS is “dedicated to the mission of growing young minds in unity, respect, and understanding.”
The event was designed to help students appreciate people and cultures from around the world while fostering a spirit of inclusion and global awareness, the release stated. Altogether, 13 different countries were represented, with presenters sharing traditions, customs, and cultural elements at interactive booths.
Students participated in a hands-on learning experience by receiving “passports,” which were stamped as they “toured” each country. ASCS said in the release that the activity encouraged curiosity, respect, and a deeper understanding of the diverse world beyond their classroom walls.
“Celebrate Cultural Diversity Day reflects All Saints Catholic School’s commitment to teaching children the importance of unity, compassion, and appreciation for others–values that prepare them to become thoughtful and caring global citizens,” the release stated. “It is important for children to learn that differences in cultures can be respected and admired rather than feared, judged, or treated as inferior.”
