ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) recently donated $500 to the Alpena Suicide Prevention Walk hosted by the Alpena Suicide Prevention Team and Partners in Prevention.

This year’s walk will be held on Sept. 27, starting at 10 a.m. at the Bay View Park Bandshell. The walk will take participants through downtown, and around the Thunder Bay River. The goal of the Alpena Suicide Prevention Walk is to reduce stigma, promote available resources, provide education and training to reduce suicide risk and make asking for help more accessible.

AAACU’s donation to support the Alpena Suicide Prevention Walk is made possible by its Community Investment Fund, comprised of dollars donated back into our communities thanks to credit union members who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically. The credit union pledged to donate $9 annually for each of these e-statements accounts and in 2025, AAACU will donate up to $298,600 back into the communities they serve.
