ALPENA — This year’s 51st Annual Michigan Brown Trout Festival will feature an impressive lineup of bands that will keep festival goers entertained.
The festival always boasts an array of live music to draw in the crowds between tournament weigh-ins.
Quiet Riot, the popular metal band from the 1980s, will take the stage in the Big Tent from 6 to 11 p.m on Saturday. Original band member, Rudy Sarzo, will perform with Quiet Riot. Raggedy Ann and Driving Dawn will also perform in the Veolia Big Tent on Saturday.
This year, Friends Together will be partnering with the Brown Trout Festival for the first time to bring JUMP — America’s Van Halen Experience to the festival from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, July 25.
Proceeds from ticket sales will cover the event expenses. Melissa Burns, Friends Together executive director, said that proceeds left over will go directly back to Friends Together, a Northeast Michigan nonprofit that supports those with cancer. Burns said that Friends Together does not receive state or federal funding, thus making events like the festival important to their organization.

“Not only are we bringing a fun band to Alpena, but we will also be able to help people in their cancer journey. We are super excited to bring them to Alpena,” Burns said, regarding JUMP — America’s Van Halen Experience.
Burns explained that Friends Together is looking forward to this event not only because of the caliber of talent, but also because of the opportunity to partner with Connie’s Cafe to give back.
“We are putting that money back into the community,” Burns said.
