Consumers Energy to make overnight repairs in Rogers City
Temporarily interrupting service to 2,000 customers
ROGERS CITY – Consumers Energy is alerting Rogers City residents that it will be interrupting power to about 2,000 homes and businesses starting just after midnight for about five hours. The work is being done to make critical repairs to equipment in a local substation after an inspection today, a press release from Consumers explains.
“We want our customers to know we appreciate their patience,” said Chris Laird, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric distribution operations. “We never want to interrupt service to our customers, but need to so do to ensure the safety of our equipment and, more important, the people we serve. If we don’t make these repairs now, we face a high risk of an outage that we can’t plan.”
Crews will start making repairs at midnight and continue until about 5 a.m. Wednesday. The work will affect all of Rogers City, north of M-68, south of Hoeft State Park, and east of Meredith and N. Trout roads, the press release says.
Customers should call Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050 if they have questions or concerns.
Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, providing natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million of the state’s 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
