The Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan will host author and educator Gail Heath on Dec. 22 for a family-friendly author program and reading of her new Christmas story, Miracle on the Mountain: An Appalachian Christmas, which begins at 3 p.m.

Heath’s newest book has already earned critical praise. Chanticleer Book Reviews awarded it 5 stars, writing: “Heath shares a message of love and redemption through the heartwarming tale of Granny, a faithful, disciplined, and generous Appalachian woman.”

A longtime Michigan educator, Heath taught for 32 years in Alcona Community Schools and now teaches for Clark County School District in Las Vegas. She is the founder and publisher of Condor Publishing, Inc., and her work spans children’s literature, adult anthologies, storytelling, and teacher training in Equity and Diversity. Her writing has been recognized with the Will Rogers Silver Medallion Award, a Santa Barbara Writers Conference Award, and placement on the Accelerated Reader list.

Heath has deep local ties, with her home in Harrisville, and she looks forward to returning to Northeast Michigan for the holidays to share this meaningful Christmas story.

The program will include a reading, a discussion of the book’s Appalachian roots, and time for questions and visiting with the author. Families and readers of all ages are encouraged to attend.
