Tom and Joan Lavoie

On April 7, 2021 Tom and Joan Lavoie celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

They were married April 7, 1956 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena, by the Rev. William B. Belk. Tom and Joan are both retired from the Alpena Public Schools.

Their daughters are Jeri (Alan) Andon of Fleming Isle, Florida, and Beth (John) DesOrmeau of Novi. A son, Thomas W. Lavoie, passed away in 2011.

The couple has six grandchildren: Jackie (Brian) Will of Lexington, Kentucky, Danielle (Mike) Fortino of Mt. Pleasant, Natalie (Travis) Babola of Baltimore, Maryland, Lt. Robert (Hayley) Andon of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Taylor John DesOrmeau of Jackson, and Alicia DesOrmeau of Grand Rapids. They also have one great-granddaughter, Vivienne Will, of Lexington, Kentucky. A new great-grandson is expected in June from Dani and Mike.

Due to COVID, Tom and Joan had a quiet celebration with cards and phone call extending good wishes. A family celebration later this summer will include Alicia’s birthday, as she was born on April 7.
