Marty and Cheryl Marvar, June 13, 1970

Marty and Cheryl Marvar were married on June 13, 1970, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseville, Michigan. Little did they know then that in a blink of an eye they would reach their 50th wedding anniversary.

It was the summer of ’69 when Marty and a college friend headed south from the U.P. to work at Ford Motor Co. on Mound Rd.

He and Cheryl started dating, and were married the following summer after his graduation from NMU. They both then headed north to Alpena to begin teaching, and haven’t looked back.

Celebrating this momentous event will take place at a later date with their daughter, who resides in California. Until then, they plan to eat lots of cake made with apples from their own apple tree.
