Vic and Betty Gehrke celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 18, 2014, at a dinner and reception in Farmington Hills hosted by their children. Guests gathered for the diamond jubilee anniversary and were treated to a slideshow highlighting the couple’s milestones over the past 60 years.

Special guests were Betty’s siblings: Ken and Rosemary Lancaster of Beaverton; Gary and Louise Lancaster of Lachine; and Jerry and Patty Lutes of Gaylord. Patty was a flower girl at their wedding.

Vic Gehrke and the former Betty Lancaster were married Sept. 18, 1954, at the Wilson Methodist Church. Vic retired from Fletcher Paper Company and Betty retired from Alpena Public Schools as a school bus driver.

They have three sons: Alvin (Marlene) Gehrke of St. Peters, Mo.; Arlin (Judy) Gehrke of Farmington Hills; and Glen (Janet) Gehrke of Rochester Hills. The couple also has seven grandchildren.
