Ray and Lee Cherney of Alpena celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows June 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Erickson officiating. Friends and family gathered afterwards at the Courtyard for a celebration dinner. Sharing in the occasion were Lee’s sister, Pat (Dave) Sabourin of Grand Haven, and Ray’s sister, Cam (Phil) Kauffman of Avon Lake.

Mr. Cherney and the former Lee Cramer were married June 5, 1964, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They have two children: Michael of Alpena and Kimberly of Oscoda. The couple also have five grandchildren: Nathan, Baylee, Emily, Tiffany and Noah.

Ray and Lee are planning a trip in the fall to further celebrate their anniversary. Ray is retired from the USAF. Lee is employed part-time at Perch’s IGA.
