Elmer and Frances Schultz of Ossineke were honored at a family dinner held at Cattails Restaurant in Ossineke on Sept. 11 celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.

The party was hosted by their three daughters: Denise Schultz of Hubbard Lake, Inez DeTeso of Chelmsford, Mass., and Sharron (Joe) Vanderveer of Hillman. On the following Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Schultz were surprised by a few friends and neighbors. Also attending the party was grandson Keith Vanderveer and his son, Kadyn, of Hillman.

Appetizers, various breads, homemade soups and anniversary cake were served for dinner. The party was held in Hubbard Lake at their daughter Denise’s house. Unable to attend were Rock DeTeso of Chelmsford, Mass., and son Kelvin Schultz, and his companion Richard Wood of Dallas, Texas. Son Darrell Schultz (Natalie), their two daughters, Kylie and Hannah of Sellersburg, Ind., grandson Doug Vanderveer (Jody) of Hillman, and great-grandson Dustin Vanderveer of Saginaw were also unable to attend.

Elmer and Frances were married on Sept. 11, 1948 by the Rev. Richard Noffze at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herron.
