James and Janice Kollien of 1346 Wayne Road, Alpena, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2013. A blessing of their marriage will be given at the 4 p.m. mass at St. Anne Catholic Church. A dinner with their closest family and friends will follow.

The couple’s son will serve as master of ceremonies. Guests are coming from all over Michigan and as far away as Michigan City, Ind.

Original wedding party members include Don Shultz, Jim Matuzak, Dave Przeslawski, the late Richard Sloan, Karen Matuzak, Bernice Cruzen, Jeanne Nowak, Sandi Bedard and Lori Shellburg.

Mr. Kollien and the former Janice McQuarrie were married Aug. 17, 1963 at St. Anne Catholic Church. Their children are Kristen (Don) Walcheski of Big Rapids, Leanne (Brian) Gettel of Madison Heights, Cherie (Bill) Woodhams of Kalamazoo and Michael (Beth) Kollien of Alpena. They have also been blessed with 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom will be celebrating with them today.
