Alfred and Shirley Somers recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at The Courtyard in Alpena.

The couple have two children: Steven and Lorrie Somers, and Debbie and Dave Wardman, all of Alpena. Their grandchildren include Brad and Felonie Somers, Matt and Helen Somers, all of Alpena, and Michael Wardman of Grand Rapids.

Al and the former Shirley Clark were married June 17, 1953, in Alpena. Al is retired from the Alpena City Police Department.
