Up and coming up at Art in the Loft
File Art
Art in the Loft is in between exhibits, but that doesn’t mean that art has stopped. The gallery has some exciting programming coming up.
Young Artist Exhibit
This week, Art in the Loft is in full transition. The WinterView 2025 exhibit came to a close on Saturday, March 21, and the gallery is working diligently with its 30 plus artists to change out the gallery space and prep it for its Young Artist Exhibit.
The Young Artist Exhibit opens April 14 and runs through May. Young artists in grades K-12 from local area schools will display artistic works created throughout the academic year. Art in the Loft works directly with professional arts educators to develop a unique celebration of students’ hard work. The gallery aims to inspire and encourage students by providing them an opportunity to see their work elevated and displayed in a professional gallery setting. Though pieces are not for sale, Art in the Loft encourages everyone to visit the gallery during this time to celebrate Northeast Michigan’s young creatives.
Great Lakes Crafting
Friday, April 10 Great Lakes Crafting is returning to the Art in the Loft for another series of creative and exciting courses. Join the fun at 7 p.m for a fun evening of hat painting–no experience needed, just bring your imagination. Unleash your inner artist as you paint and decorate your own unique hat. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned painter, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to express yourself and create something truly special. Bring just yourself or have a friend tag along for this exciting opportunity.
Great Lakes Crafting’s second class is happening at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 11. In this beginner level mosaic workshop, individuals will create a unique mosaic lamp using provided patterns or using their own imagination. This workshop brings the artistry of glass mosaics to a functional item in your home that will lighten up the nights. With several lamp frames to choose from there is something for everyone to enjoy. All supplies are included.
The final class in this three-part series by Great Lakes Crafting is a resin pour workshop on Saturday, April 11 at 2 p.m. Participants will learn how to resin/epoxy pour using alcohol ink and mica powders onto birch hardwood. Other accessories such as rocks, crystals and shells are also available for a small charge. Pick your laser cut shape, accessories, and add-ons prior to the class during the registration process at artintheloft.org/workshops–events.
Tickets for all events can be purchased online at artintheloft.org or over the phone at 989-356-4877.
