Mum sale this and next Saturday at Alpena Farmers Market

Tunnel to Towers 5K Saturday

The 2025 Tunnel to Towers 5K will start at 9 a.m. at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center. For more information, visit runwalkalpena.t2t.org. Follow the footsteps of 9/11 hero, New York City Firefighter Stephen Siller, to ensure that we never forget and honor the sacrifices of our nation’s first responders and military heroes.

Alpenopoly Grub Crawl Sept. 11

Tickets are on sale now for the Alpenopoly Grub Crawl — The Fabulous 50s! The 1950s-themed grub crawl will run from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11 at various Alpena restaurants. Participating locations include The Court Yard, HopSide Brewery, Joe’s Bar, Knaebe’s, PIF Cider, Player’s Pub & Grub, Rusty Petunias Marketplace, Samantha’s on 2nd, Sneakers Bar, and Sports Page Lounge. Tickets are $30 each, available at the Chamber office, 235 W. Chisholm St., Alpena. This event is sponsored by Alpena Beverage Company, Emery Enterprises, HPC Credit Union, Kendall Electric, LakeShore Fiber of Alpena, Plowman’s Collision, Real Estate One of Alpena, Servpro of Alpena, Thunder Bay Transportation, and Wolverine State Credit Union.

Posen Potato Festival starts today

The 74th Annual Posen Potato Festival kicks off today and continues throughout the weekend. Today’s festivities include vendors open from noon to 10 p.m., and Native Amusements rides from noon to 11 p.m. Tours of the historic Elowsky Grist Mill will be available every hour, from 3 to 6 p.m. A festival opening ceremony is set for 5 p.m. in the Polka Pavilion. A burnout competition will start at 6 p.m. A polka dance will be held in the Polka Pavilion from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., featuring Twin Cities Soundz and Darrell Weltin and The New Brass Express.
