Voter registration drives set for National Voter Registration Day
In an effort to encourage civic engagement, the League of Women Voters of Northeast Michigan will host voter registration drives on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at three local schools.
The events are part of National Voter Registration Day, an annual nationwide effort to register citizens to vote and raise awareness about the democratic process. The drives are open to all eligible citizens, with a special emphasis on young voters. In Michigan, residents as young as 16 can pre-register to vote, which ensures they are ready to participate in any election once they turn 18.
To register, individuals should bring their driver’s license and the last four digits of their Social Security number. The voter registration drives will be held at the following locations and times on Tuesday: Alpena High School: 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Alpena Community College: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Alcona Community Schools: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, visit lwv.org/local-leagues/lwv-northeast-michigan and the League of Women Voters of Northeast Michigan on Facebook.
