Art in the Loft’s “HELLO YELLOW” submission deadline Wednesday

Say “Hello Yellow” to Art in the Loft’s 10th Annual Juried Art Exhibit. The artist submission deadline has been extended to Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. Submit online at artintheloft.org.

Yellow is “a hue that evokes warmth, optimism, and creativity. Often associated with sunshine and joy, it radiates energy and brightness, inviting viewers to explore its various meanings across cultures and contexts,” a press release from Art in the Loft explains. “From the cheerful blooms of spring flowers to the cautionary glow of traffic lights, it symbolizes both happiness and alertness. In this exhibit, artists will delve into the color’s emotional spectrum, capturing its essence in bold strokes and subtle nuances, while prompting reflection on how this color influences our perceptions of life, hope, and renewal.”

“HELLO YELLOW” opens with an awards reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 2. The exhibit will be up until Nov. 1.

Artist Pamela O’Neil is this year’s juror.

Artists are to use yellow and shades of yellow in at least 50% of their artwork. All mediums and styles are eligible. The focal point of the piece should focus on the color yellow. The fee to enter is $35 for the first entry, and $10 per additional, with a maximum of three entries per artist.

Art in the Loft is located on the third floor of the Center Building, 109 N. 2nd Ave. in downtown Alpena.
