Alpena Lions Club Learning in the Park Sunday

The Alpena Lions Club will host the second in their new series of Learning in the Park, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at McRae Park in Alpena.

In this free program for children ages 8 to 11, participants will build a planter starter kit, plant seeds, learn about plants, and play games.

Special Olympics fundraiser Tuesday at Pizza Hut

The community is invited to a semi-annual Special Olympics fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Pizza Hut, 2131 U.S.-23, Alpena.

Attendees will be served by Area 3 Special Olympics athletes. Tips will be accepted as donations to help with travel expenses to Special Olympics events the athletes compete in. Checks can be made out to Area 3 Special Olympics.

APS Board meeting Monday

The Alpena Public Schools Board of Education will hold a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the APS Boardroom, 2373 Gordon Road, Alpena.
