ALPENA — The fourth annual Art in the Park will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17 at McRae Park in Alpena.
The event will feature over 40 vendors, live music, concessions, raffles, games, and a whole lot of family-friendly fun, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A wide variety of items will be available from vendors at the show.
Organizer Jodie Bishop said the show keeps growing each year, and she also organizes a winter show now. Each event is also a fundraiser for a local charity. This summer’s charity is Second Chance Animal Shelter.
“We’re still growing every year,” Bishop said. “My winter show that we did for the first time this past year was phenomenal. We could only fit 40 vendors in the Merchant’s Building at the fairgrounds, and I had a waiting list of about 20 vendors.”

She added that the winter show last November raised over $2,000 for Alpena County Animal Control.
At Art in the Park on Aug. 17, live music will be provided by Bradley Corpus and his son Spencer, Bishop said.
She added that anyone who brings an item to donate to Second Chance Animal Shelter will be entered to win a door prize.
Bishop said her daughter, Kimberly Healy, helps her organize the shows, and her grandchildren, Skarlette Rowe and Jayden Hoochrein run the kids’ games, pass out waters, and help out as well. She added that vendor Peggy Burns is also a part of the organizing team.
Watch for upcoming details about this year’s November show.
