Star Staffing school supplies drive underway

Star Staffing Alpena has begun their annual drive collecting school supplies for local schools. They are accepting donations of school supplies for students from elementary through high school. Some suggestions are rulers, washable markers, scissors, loose leaf paper, glue sticks, crayons, colored pencils, folders, notebooks, pencils, and backpacks.

Drop off supplies between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Star Staffing, 537 W. Chisholm St., Alpena.

The drive will run until Aug. 15. If you have questions, call 989-356-2999.

VBS starts Monday at Living Hope

Living Hope Church in Alpena invites children in kindergarten through sixth grade to Camp Chaos VBS (Vacation Bible School) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the church, 1499 M-32, Alpena.

The week will be filled with music, games, crafts, snacks, Biblical truth, and chaos! Preregistration is preferred by calling 989-358-0338.

Good Midday Alpena Aug. 7

The Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to the next Good Midday Alpena lunch and program on Thursday, Aug. 7. Updates include information from the Alpena County Fair, Alpena Farmers Market, Target Alpena and more.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by the noon program at Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan, 491 Johnson St., Alpena. The event will be held outside.

The cost is $12 per person and registration is required in advance to info@alpenachamber.com or 989-354-4181.

Bridge results noted

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club results have been announced, with Gordon Bennett and Marge French in first place, followed by Beverley Rousseau and Marcy Sherman in second, and Carolyn Belton and Judie Vivian in third.
