Aug. 2 golf outing to raise funds for breast health
LINCOLN — Lost Lake Woods Association of Lincoln will host their eighth annual Rally for a Cure golf outing on Saturday, Aug. 2. The outing takes place at the Lost Lake Woods Golf Course in Lincoln with attendees enjoying 18 holes of golf and a luncheon. The fun-filled afternoon also includes a raffle, mulligans and shotgun start. All monies raised during the event will be directed to the Breast Health Fund at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
The Breast Health Fund provides patient assistance such as free mammograms, prescription assistance, ultrasound and biopsy procedures, as well as lodging and gas cards for those who travel for treatment. Last year, the Rally raised $10,300. The event’s steering committee agreed that along with patient assistance for breast health, some of the funds would be directed toward the purchase of a dedicated ultrasound system for the Medical Center’s Breast Health Suite. This system is used for secondary diagnostic testing for women with inconclusive mammogram results.
“We are grateful to Lost Lake Woods Association and everyone who participates in the Rally for a Cure. Patient assistance plays a crucial role in ensuring that our breast health patients get the best care possible,” said Steve Hand, manager of imaging services, MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. “By helping to purchase the new ultrasound system, last year’s players also helped to ensure that such care is provided in the most modern and technically advanced way possible right here in Northeast Michigan.”
Ann Diamond, development director for MyMichigan Health Foundation, stated, “I would like to give a special thanks to organizers Paulette Kallstrom, Kim Fleming, Sue Hunter and Linda Perry, as well as past organizers Bev Calkins and Helen Zimmerman. Thanks to them, over the years, Lost Lake Woods Association has truly become a champion for our Breast Health program. Rally for a Cure is a fantastic event at a gorgeous golf course right here in Northeast Michigan. The Rally is a fun way to support an important cause and I’m proud that MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena continues to benefit and partner with this wonderful event.”
The cost to participate is $100 for non-members, $90 for Lost Lake Wood Association members and $60 those with a golf membership. Registration includes lunch and golf. Those interested in registering may call Jim Dennis at the Lost Lake Woods Club Golf Shop at (989) 736-8412.
