ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) is happy to announce a

$1,000 donation to the Michigan Brown Trout Festival to help

bring free ice cream to kids attending the festival this year. The

ice cream will be served up by the Scoop Squad, the newest addition to

the Alpena County Sheriff’s Department.

Thanks to volunteers and generous donations, the Scoop Squad is able to scoop without a single cent of county funding. AAACU is proud to support local organizations in their efforts to make our communities better places to live, work and play.

AAACU’s donation to support the Michigan Brown Trout Festival and Scoop Squad is made possible by the credit union’s Community Investment Fund. These funds are comprised of dollars donated back into our communities thanks to credit union members who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically. The credit union pledged to donate $9 annually for each enrolled account, and in 2025, AAACU will donate up to $297,600 back into the communities they serve.
