ALPENA — Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union recently donated to the Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA) Kindness Closet, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, the Alcona County Victim Service Unit, and the Sunrise Treatment and Recovery Centre.

In the second quarter of 2025, Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union’s Alpena North branch raised $373.28 for the NEMCSA Kindness Closet. The NEMCSA Kindness Closet provides students in need with basic hygiene supplies in Alpena Public Schools. Funds for the Kindness Closet were raised through a prize raffle. AAACU team members look forward to fundraising for organizations and initiatives that positively impact our local communities.

AAACU’s Alpena Main and Posen branches recently raised a combined $1,222.97 for the United Way and Dolly Parton Imagination Library. This is a program that sends free books to children 5 years old and younger with the goal to foster a love of reading among preschool-age children and set them up for success later in life. Funds were raised by raffling off a series of prize baskets.

The AAACU Lincoln branch raised $514.03 for the Alcona County Victim Service Unit. The funds raised will go toward the Alcona County Victim Service Unit’s mission to support those who have been the victims of tragedy through difficult times. The Victim Service Unit is composed entirely of volunteers. Funds were raised by raffling off a series of prize baskets.

The AAACU Ossineke branch raised $396.77 for the Sunrise Treatment and Recovery Centre to support the center’s mission to guide those suffering from a substance use disorder away from active addiction and toward quality recovery that encompasses social, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Donations were collected at the Ossineke branch and donors were recognized with signs on the

wall in the lobby.
