City to unveil plow name at parade tonight
Alpena city government will unveil the resident-chosen name of a city plow truck at the Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade tonight, the city said in a news release.
Back in October, the city asked the public to help name the city’s fleet of plow trucks.
The public responded with many great choices. More than 150 names were submitted, some of them more than once. In those cases, the name was assigned to the first submitter.
The city’s Public Works staff and selection committee last week narrowed down the choices to seventeen finalists and asked residents to vote. The city received 547 votes and the plow truck fleet now has names, the first of which will be unveiled at the parade.
All winners and voting results will be shared at a later date, the city said in a news release.
