Intro to sign language class starts Sept. 17

PRESQUE ISLE — Weekly Introduction to American Sign Language classes will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Grand Lake Library, 18132 Lake Esau Highway, Presque Isle. Classes will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. each Tuesday. Call 989-734-2477.

Pia Borsheim, Ph.D., will teach the classes. She is a CODA (child of deaf adults) and was a professor at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. for 43 years.

Family Fun Day Sept. 22 at Leer Lutheran

POSEN — Leer Lutheran Church will host Family Fun Day from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the church, 10430 S. Leer Road, Posen.

At noon, a picnic lunch will be served, with hot dogs, chips, salads, lemonade, and desserts, by freewill donation.

From 1 to 2:30 p.m., activities will include a cupcake decorating contest, rock painting, sack races, surprises, other games in the pavilion and a scavenger hunt in the Leer Heritage Museum.

From 2:30 to 3 p.m., the cupcake decorating contest winner will be announced, and there will be hay rides and ice cream novelties.

Bring friends and family out for a fun-filled afternoon.

Proceeds will benefit local needs.
