Free fair housing training Tuesday at ACC

ALPENA — Free fair housing training will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Alpena Community College.

Registration is required by visiting fhcmichigan.org/events.

This session is presented by the Fair Housing Center and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

WOVEN meeting Tuesday at New Life

ALPENA — All women and young women (6th grade and older) are warmly invited to to attend the May WOVEN Meeting, “Women of the Word” Ice Cream Social from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at New Life Christian Fellowship, 317 S. Ripley Blvd., Alpena.

This gathering is hosted by WOVEN (Women of Victory Experiencing Newness), and there is no cost for this event, which will begin with a shared meal.

Join New Life as they wrap up their WOVEN season with an encouraging evening filled with fellowship and a variety of speakers.

Northeast Michigan League of Women Voters to host lunch Sat.

ALPENA — The Northeast Michigan League of Women Voters will hold a special lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at JJ’s Steak and Pizza House on North 2nd Avenue in Alpena.

This lunch will be held to welcome new members and guests. All LWV members are welcome, and please feel free to bring a friend. JJ’s offers both breakfast and lunch at this hour. This will take the place of the LWV Lunch Bunch for the month of May. The public is invited.

Garden Club met

ALPENA — The Alpena Garden Club met on Monday, May 5 at the ACC conference room.

President BJ Sander called the meeting to order. The treasurer’s report was read. The chairman of each garden made a progress report and solved problems, if necessary. Diann Gagnon read a very interesting report on hints for the aging gardener.

The ACC plant sale will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on May 23, and from 10 a.m. to noon on May 25, with flowers, veggie plants and perennials at great prices.

New members are always welcome.
