ALPENA – Music lovers and advocates for recovery are gearing up for an electrifying evening of talent and community support at the upcoming “Rock Recovery” Battle of the Bands event. Presented by Vivero Industries and Freedom Recovery Center, this event promises to be a beacon of hope and solidarity for those grappling with substance abuse in Northern Michigan.

Scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the APlex in Alpena, the stage will come alive with the sounds of five Northern Michigan bands competing for great prizes. This musical showdown not only celebrates the region’s vibrant music scene but also serves a noble purpose: to promote recovery and highlight the resources available for individuals struggling with substance use disorder.

The event promises an evening of high-stakes competition, with enticing prizes awaiting the first, second, and third place winners. A panel of judges will assess the bands’ performances, ensuring a fair and thrilling contest for both participants and attendees alike.

Attendees can also look forward to concessions, guitar raffle, and a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds from this event will go to supporting awareness, education, and prevention efforts for those suffering with substance use disorder.

In addition to the musical showcase, “Rock Recovery” will feature inspirational guest speakers who will courageously share their personal stories of triumph over addiction, serving as beacons of hope for those currently navigating their own recovery journeys.

“I am thrilled to share my story of recovery. I am hoping to send a message to the adolescents in our community that being sober is cool.” said Shannon Vivero, one of the guest speakers at the event. “My younger self would be proud of the impact I am making with our youth.”

“This event is not just about music; it’s about community, compassion, and collective action,” stated Carlos Vivero, owner of Vivero Industries, “By coming together in support of recovery, we can break down barriers, reduce stigma, and create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.”

This is an all ages show.Tickets for “Rock Recovery” are available now for $10 at www.aplex.org/events, and doors will open at 5 p.m. For more information, please visit the Vivero Industries Facebook page at www.facebook.com/viveroindustries.
