Alcona library sets February programs

HARRISVILLE — Alcona County Library has announced its February programs. If you have questions about any of these programs, call the library at 989-724-6796. The library is located at 312 W. Main St. in Harrisville.

On Thursdays, Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23, Community Walking Club for Everyone will meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library.

This Friday is Popcorn Friday! Come to the Alcona County Library in Harrisville and enjoy a free bag of movie-style buttered popcorn, while supplies last. Don’t forget to check out a movie while you’re there!

On Fridays, Feb. 3, 10, 17, and 24, storytime and craft for children is at 10:30 a.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library.

On Tuesdays, Feb. 7 and 21, Knitting Klub & Crochet meets from 1:15 to 3:15 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. All ages and levels are welcome.

On Wednesdays, Feb. 8 and 22, children of all ages are invited to Homeschoolers at the Library at 1 p.m. for a fun and educational activity at the Alcona County Library in Harrisville.

Starting Monday, Feb. 13, Celebrate Love Your Library Month with ACL! Read the paper, eat a treat, and enjoy coffee from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library every morning through Feb. 17. Guess the amount of candy in our jar to win a whole jar of candy!

On Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. Teen Craft for 9th through 12th graders will be held at the Alcona Community High School cafeteria. February’s craft is a Creepy Eyeball Flower.

On Thursday, Feb. 16, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tween Craft for ages 10 and up will be held at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. February’s craft is a Creepy Eyeball Flower.

On Monday, Feb. 20, the Alcona County Library and its branches will be closed to observe Presidents’ Day.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the Alcona Book Club will meet from noon to 1 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. The selection for February is “The House in the Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, the Alcona County Library Board will meet at 2 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.

On Thursday, Feb. 23, Teen Movie & Munchies is at 5 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. For ages 13 and up, enjoy a fun movie with popcorn.

On Monday, Feb. 27, teens and adults are invited to Craftomania! from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library. February’s project is Visible (Boro style) Mending. Bring one or two pieces of clothing that need repair (jeans are perfect). There is a $3 charge for supplies. Please call 989-724-6796 to register.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., Cassandra Sadler, maritime archaeologist, will share the latest scientific discoveries from Thunder Bay Marine Sanctuary and discuss some of the shipwrecks along the Alcona County shoreline, at the Curtis Township Library in Glennie. This is the second in a series of events called “Cabin Fever” brought to you by the Alcona Historical Society, Michigan Arts & Culture Council, and administered by Northeast Michigan Center for Fine Arts.
