“I am a retired science teacher whose main hobbies are birding, photography and travel,” Heatley said in a press release. “My quest for birds has taken me to all 50 states, many countries and all seven continents. I have seen over 6,000 species of birds. My love of nature is shared with others through my photos. I rarely go birding without my camera.

About Peggy Little

Courtesy Photo Peggy Little is the Dragonfly Art Gallery Artist of the Month. A reception will be held on July 10.

Little is inspired by the amazing world around her and she paints to express her enjoyment of nature. Several of her pictures are from photos she has taken while kayaking around the area.

Little resides in Oscoda, since retiring in 2006 from teaching elementary school in Rogers City. Now that she has time to pursue her love of painting, she takes advantage of classes and workshops to learn, explore and try new techniques. She has worked in all mediums but now works mainly with acrylics and batiking.

Her work has been accepted in several juried shows in Tawas, at Besser Museum and at Art in the Loft. Her work has also been displayed at the Frankenmuth Art Gallery. It is currently on display at the Dragonfly Art Gallery in Harrisville, Art in the Loft in Alpena and other galleries and shops in the area. She is a member of the Northeast Michigan Art Guild.
