ALPENA — Northland Area Federal Credit Union will hold the official grand opening of its new headquarters from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at 1161 N. Bagley St. in Alpena.

Northland Area Federal Credit Union will kick off its event with the ribbon cutting at 11 am. This event is free to the public. The grand opening will include guest appearances from Congressman Jack Bergman and a representative from U.S. Senator Gary Peters’ office. Many other local dignitaries will also be there.

“Our new headquarters represents a milestone in the Alpena community, but more importantly, it allows us to better serve our growing 15-branch network and those members and communities in our legacy markets as we operate from a new, modern, and efficient facility,” said Pete Dzuris, president and CEO.

Northland is providing lunch from Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe, along with Frito Lay of Alpena, Pepsi of Alpena and Little Debbie of Alpena, and more, while supplies last. True North Radio will be broadcasting live from the event. Attendees can also register for a chance to win a Traeger grill, and many other prizes will be given away.

“Although Northland’s facility has been open for a while now, the grand opening will allow several of our team members that work on the upper floors to engage with the public while enjoying some delicious food and the nice summer weather.” said Jennifer Lipps, Alpena branch manager.

Most of the activities will be held in the main parking lot allowing for safe social distancing. Attendees are encouraged to see the inside of the facility by way of the main entrance. Extra parking is available along the curb in the Crossroads Plaza.

“It’s important to officially celebrate the grand opening because it gives us a chance to pause and recognize all the hard work and years of planning behind this facility and what it will mean for our members in the future. It also gives us a chance to thank our members and the community for welcoming Northland and allowing us to serve them,” said Matt Duthler, marketing director.

Event promoters Shannon and Carlos Vivero of Vivero Industries stated, “We are very excited about the upcoming grand opening. Any business that is a positive asset to our community is something that we can stand behind. As business owners and members of Northland, we encourage members and non-members to attend this event and meet the welcoming staff. You are sure to feel right at home.”

Northland employs over 150 staff and has assets of over half a billion dollars with over 49,000 members. For more information about the event, visit the Vivero Industries Facebook Page.
