Ferris State Dean’s List, grads announced

BIG RAPIDS — University officials have announced that 3,938 students received academic honors for the semester that ended in December 2020 at Ferris State University and Kendall College of Art and Design.

Academic Honors

To be eligible for academic honors, the minimum requirements for full-time students each term are: 3.5 GPA and 12 Ferris credit hours or more of graded course work at the 100 level or higher. The minimum requirements for part-time students each term are: 3.5 GPA with completion of at least 12 accumulated Ferris credit hours of graded course work at the 100 level or higher.

Local students on the dean’s list include:

Alpena: Matthew Milostan, Garret McHarg, Kourtney Jones, Garrett Beaulieu, Sarah Lijewski, Andrew Grabiel, Ciara Corwin, Camden Cosbitt, and Alaina Najmowicz.

Black River: Adam Neveu.

Hawks: Veronica Szczerowski.

Hillman: Trevor Roznowski, Eve Lafleche, Delton Ableidinger, and Jake Kangas.

Hubbard Lake: Chloe Lacombe.

Lewiston: RaeAnn Kievit.

Lincoln: Alyssa Dellar.

Millersburg: KayAnna Dean.

Onaway: Jordan Bischer.

Posen: Noelle Strzelecki and Erin Zaborney.

Rogers City: Katelyn Beebe, Chrystopher Hogg, and Alana Wirgau.

Spruce: Zachary Richardson.

Graduates

Seven hundred and seventy-one students earned degrees from FSU and Kendall College of Art and Design during the semester that ended in December 2020.

Students graduating with honors were recognized for high academic achievement on the basis of GPAs computed on a 4.0 scale. Undergraduate degree designations use Latin levels of recognition: Summa Cum Laude, 3.9 to 4.0; Magna Cum Laude, 3.75 to 3.89; and Cum Laude, 3.5 to 3.74.

Local graduates include:

Alpena: Sarah Lijewski, graduating Cum Laude with a Criminal Justice degree;

Onaway: Bradley Moore with a degree in Marketing.

Ursula Duncan earns academic honors at Northeastern

BOSTON — Alpena resident Ursula Duncan has received academic honors, earning a place on the Fall 2020 Northeastern University Dean’s List.

Northeastern University is pleased to recognize those students who distinguish themselves academically during the course of the school year. Duncan, a Northeastern University student majoring in criminal justice/psychology, was recently named to the University’s dean’s list for the Fall semester, which ended in December 2020.

To achieve the Northeastern University Dean’s List distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality-point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during their college career. Each student also receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean.
