Connie’s/Friends Together fall festival this Saturday

Friends Together and Connie’s Cafe present Fall Festival of Friends, with dinner available by drive-thru only, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

A traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be available for $15 per adult and $7 per child. A pie and pantry sale will also be going on at the same time, featuring homemade pies, plated desserts and homemade canned goods for a $10 donation each. All proceeds go to Friends Together to help people with cancer.

In addition, there will be a “Win Big” raffle, with prizes of $2,000, $500, a picnic table, and a cornhole yard game set. Tickets are 3 for $20. Red envelopes are $20, featuring prizes from local businesses.

Crafter trunk sale

Saturday in Harrisville

Crafters will be selling their arts and crafts out of the trunk of their cars from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Craftmakers’ Cabin, 106 S. State Road, Harrisville.

Pig roast fundraiser Sat. hosted by Ossineke Eagles

The Ossineke Eagles will hold a pig roast fundraiser, open to the public, from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The menu includes pork roast, plain or barbecue, and smoked chicken, sides, and desserts. There will also be a 50/50 drawing, auctions, horseshoes, cornhole, a bonfire, music and a cash bar.

The cost is a minimum $10 donation per person. Those age 6 and younger eat for free.

The Eagles are located at 6848 U.S.-23 in Spruce, one mile north of Chippewa Point Grocery.

Alpena Suicide Prevention Walk Sept. 26 at Bay View

The Alpena Suicide Prevention Walk will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, starting at Bay View Park in Alpena. Registration begins at 9 a.m. for this roughly two-mile walk. The route will go along Water Street, to 2nd Avenue, along the Maritime Heritage Trail, over the 9th Avenue Bridge, down Chisholm Street, and back to Bay View Park.

Advance registration is recommended. The first 100 registrants will receive a T-shirt the day of the walk. Registration forms are available at The Alpena News, 130 Park Place, and the Alpena Senior Citizens Center, 501 River St., both in Alpena. The registration fee is $20 per person, payable by check made out to Partners in Prevention, or cash. Registration forms and payment may be dropped off or mailed to The Alpena News, ATTN: Darby Hinkley, 130 Park Place, Alpena MI 49707.
