J. Lee Grady

Award-winning journalist, author and social justice crusader, J. Lee Grady, will speak at a series of meetings at New Life Christian Fellowship, 317 S. Ripley Blvd, Alpena. He is the founder and director of The Mordecai Project, a ministry aimed at confronting the abuse of women around the world, conducting outreaches in more than 30 nations. He is building shelters for women and girls in India, Peru, Guatemala and Colombia, and his work also takes him to Africa and parts of Latin America and Asia.

The conference weekend begins Friday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. with Grady speaking on “Living in Fullness with God through nourishing a close relationship with the Holy Spirit.”

On Saturday, Feb. 29, “Empowered,” a conference for women and young women, will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grady will show how God helps his daughters to live fearless and beautiful lives of purpose for God. The $20 registration fee includes a luncheon buffet. Pre-registration is preferred and may be done at newlifealpena.org/leegrady.

Saturday at 7 p.m., Grady will speak to men and young men on “Lies Men Believe — a compassionate but confrontational look at the reasons why so many Christian men today are in a serious crisis.”

Grady was editor of Charisma magazine for more than 11 years, before becoming ordained and launching into full-time ministry. He continues to write his popular “Fire in My Bones” column for that magazine. He is the author of “10 Lies the Church Tells Women,” “Fearless Daughters of the Bible,” “The Truth Sets Women Free,” “The Holy Spirit Is Not for Sale,” “10 Lies Men Believe,” and his newest book, “Set My Heart on Fire,” which is a Bible study on the Holy Spirit. His books will be available for purchase and a book signing will be held for 30 minutes prior to each meeting.

Grady will also speak at the 10 a.m. Sunday service. All meetings except the women’s conference are free of charge, but donations are welcome. For information, call 989-354-0095.
