Presque Isle Men’s Club learns about Lake Esau

The Presque Community Men’s Club recently held a very informative meeting. The PICMC is a group of men from northern Michigan who meet monthly on the first Thursday of the month at the Presque Isle Community Clubhouse on Kauffman Road in Presque Isle.

Tom Guyer addressed the folks gathered Sept. 5 regarding water levels in Lake Esau. There has been a lot of speculation on who was responsible for maintaining the lake levels. Water from the quarry has been pumped into the lake over the years and there is concern about the future of the lake once the quarry operation ceases and pumping no longer brings water into the lake. Guyer was able to answer a lot of the questions those in attendance posed to him, and he was able to enlighten the audience as to what options may be available when the quarry ceases operation, possibly in 35 or so years.

Meetings are open to all interested men — you do not have to be a resident of Presque Isle to belong.

Visit the picmc website at www.mensclubpi.org. Tuesday, Sept. 24, is the fall road clean up. Meet at the chapel at 9 a.m. The next club meeting is the fall breakfast meeting at 9 a.m. Oct. 3 at the Parker House. Cost for the meal is $12 plus $2 gratuity for a total of $14.
