1969 meeting canceled

This week’s AAHS/CCHS Class of 1969 reunion committee meeting has been canceled, and will be rescheduled for a later date. The reunion will be Sept. 14 at the K of C Hall. For information, call Cathy at 989-354-2288.

Mikado Days events on Sat.

Mikado Days parade line-up is at 10 a.m., with the parade at 11 a.m. Saturday. The day’s events include craft/flea market vendors, a cruise-in, free kids games, bounce house and water slide (bring a towel and change of clothes), Harmon logging demonstration, fire house demonstration, face painting, balloon animals, 1860s Vintage baseball game featuring the Midland River Hogs and Mikado Clubbers, bike night and live music by Grounded. Summer Social Friday at Leer

Leer Lutheran Church Summer Social is 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, with sloppy joes, salads, strawberry shortcake, desserts, iced tea and lemonade. If sunny, the social will be at the pavilion. If rainy, it will be inside the parish hall. There will be a quilt raffle and the museum will be open.

Bottle drive for lighthouse

Thunder Bay Island Lighthouse Preservation Society will hold its annual bottle drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Jimmie Garant’s Party Store. All proceeds benefit the maintenance and restoration of the lighthouse.

UMC Pig Roast Saturday

A Pig Roast Dinner will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 167 S. Ripley Blvd., for $11 per adult, $6 per child under 10, and free for 5 and under.
