First Federal/mBank Community Foundation announces Q1 grants

The First Federal/mBank Community Foundation recently announced its 2019 first quarter grant recipients, totaling $11,350 in donations to local organizations and nonprofits.

Grants include: $500 to Navigators USA Alpena Chapter, $600 to Alpena Community College Association of Lifelong Learners, $600 to the Alpena Blues Coalition, $750 to Rogers City Public Schools, $900 to the Friends of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, $1,000 to the Presque Isle Township Fire Department, $1,000 to the Alpena Public Schools Summer Institute, $1,000 for the Presque Isle County Historical Museum, $1,000 to Art in the Loft, $1,000 to Girls on the Run, $1,500 to the Alpena County Sheriff’s Department, and $1,500 to the United Way of Northeast Michigan.

“Each quarter we are overwhelmed by the number of community groups and organizations working so diligently to make Northeast Michigan a better place to live and work,” said Foundation President Mike Mahler. “We are proud to be able to give back to these deserving causes.”

Headquartered in Alpena, the First Federal/mBank Community Foundation is dedicated to serving community activities and nonprofit organizations in the Alanson, Cheboygan, Gaylord, Lewiston, Mio, and Alpena areas.

The next deadline for grant applications is June 1 for consideration at the next quarterly meeting, June 19.
