66th annual family reunion held

The 66th annual reunion of James and Eva Donnan was held Aug. 4 at the Wilson Township Hall. A total of 23 family members enjoyed visiting.

The ninth set of twins in the Donnan family was born to Michael and Emily Erickson of Sterling Heights, who named their sons Michael and Thomas.

A box was passed around for people to guess its contents. Kristy Joel won a night light with an angel on it.

A picture of Vern and Shirley Donnan Smith was on display for their 75th wedding anniversary. Everyone signed a card for them. They live in Kissemmee, Fla.

Bev Attwell and Richard Cadarette were the oldest family members in attendance. Earlene Alexander of St. Cloud, Fla., came the farthest to attend.

Ken Lancaster gave a blessing and prayer before the potluck dinner. Fresh vegetables and fruit from the family garden were enjoyed.

Everyone wrote a note for Tammy Taylor who was unable to come from Dearborn.

A scrapbook with the pictures of last year’s reunion was on display for everyone to enjoy seeing. Also on display was a memorial for Louise Lancaster of Lachine, Chuck Attwell of Alpena and Marilyn Donnan of Ludington.

Gary Lancaster called a short meeting to order with a moment of silence to remember those who were shut-in or sick. It was decided that all officers will hold their positions for another year.

Next year’s reunion will be held on the first Saturday in August at the same location.
