News punched readers in nose this election

This letter should not have to be written. Sadly, here I am writing it. Mr. Hinkley, I wonder how The Alpena News would have reported a Kamala Harris win instead of a Donald Trump win? I’ll bet it would have been smeared all over the front page. Instead, Trump did in fact win. Let’s delve into the reporting or lack of right here. Alpena News on Nov. 6, page two, “Trump wins N.C., holding off Harris challenge.” Nov. 7, page two, “Trump receives congrats.” Meanwhile, on the front page, above the fold, “Ollie’s Grand Opening.” I guess you call Ollie’s a hot topic ...

Grateful for group who cleaned up McRae

For those who have driven past McRae Park recently, you may have noticed it’s received a much-needed upgrade. I believe a huge thank you needs to be extended to the Alpena County Democratic Party leadership group and multiple donors who have donated their time and money over the course of the summer to contribute to the betterment of our community! A huge thank you to this community-minded group for power-washing, sanding, scraping, and painting the building. It looks great and provided a much needed uplift to Alpena’s north side community! What did 2024’s election teach our children?

What have we done by electing a former felon, misogynist, narcissistic, lying individual? We have set precedence for our children, as they can do whatever they want, because their skin will be like Teflon and nothing will become of their actions. County officials insult voters on tax proposal

According to a recent Alpena News article, our county clerk and county administrator are dismayed that some voters chose to not cast votes on certain areas of their ballot. This is attributed to incompetence rather than a choice to indicate no preference. It is a much “safer bet” that the voters knew what they were doing, exactly. Whenever I hear an administrator state that “the voters need to be educated,” I chuckle. Air concerns at Sanborn Township meetings

In Sanborn Township on Nov. 5, Election Day, 258 electors voted for a change of township supervisor who wanted to improve communications between the township board and all interested voters by making accessibility to taping of meetings or live interactive online access. Especially important is traffic control signals around the school location to provide a safer crossing for students and staff. To improve street lighting along Main Street. Now is the time for all good men (women) to come to the aid of their party and so it was! Holy moly, God’s got this. Donald Trump was saved to finish the job. They broke it, he’ll fix it!
