Protect our nation’s economy from destruction

To the editor and readers of the Alpena News, I am writing to ask you to protect our nation’s economy from destruction by Trump’s tariffs and Musk’s illegal chainsaw cuts. To limit myself to 300 words, I won’t elaborate on how Trump has destroyed the U.S.’s name among the free nations of the world. Trump’s tariffs will almost certainly drive us into a serious recession. Country cannot cater to the whole world

The U.S. Supreme Court had ruled against President Trump’s mandate of ending foreign aid. Former presidential candidate Sen. Ron Paul has advised that foreign aid is unconstitutional! If that’s the case, then how does the Supreme Court see it differently? Adjusting priorities to help out taxpayers

I am writing this out of concern for the actions of the city council and Target Alpena. Why do they think it is appropriate to give acreage to a developer for $1, then abate the taxes on the property, 90% for 20 years? This is not being done for the average citizen of Alpena, when the lowest-priced unit is projected to be approximately $5,000 per month. We already have two wonderful facilities in town in Besser Senior Living and Turning Brook, which operate in the same business model with similar pricing.
